Summer Youth Worker

Job Purpose:

The summer youth worker will be responsible for building relationships with teens both currently at Southlands community church and in the community. They will be responsible for programming opportunities for teens throughout the summer months as well as volunteer leadership development opportunities for teens.

Characteristic Job Duties:

The incumbent is responsible for the following range of job duties characteristic, or typical of the job class:

• Plan and implements a variety of social gatherings for teens throughout the summer months
• Build strong relationships with all teens, giving individual attention when needed.
• Coordinate a weekly drop in for teens during the summer months.
• Give oversight to leadership training opportunities for teen volunteers specifically in the children’s programming at Southlands, both summer day camp LIT program and Sunday mornings.
• Works closely with other kidsquest Day camp staff members.
• Interact broadly with congregation members, community partners and neighbourhood families
• Work in cooperation and consultation with the church’s administrative and pastoral care staff
• Pray with and share the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ with other staff, volunteers and program attendees and their families as appropriate
• Keeps all information confidential relative to the teens and their families as well as children and families involved in the day camp program
• Performs other duties as assigned
