Faculty Profile

Patrick Friesen and family

In the winter of 2008, as I was finishing up my Master's program, I commented to my wife Trudy that I would love it if someone would pay me to study full-time. Little did I know that I would be hired on at SBC only a few months later. I came to SBC with a Masters in Leadership and Management, eager to apply my learning into my role as Communications Director and Faculty member. Now, four years later my job has changed slightly and I have plunged headlong into the next phase of education. Last spring I enrolled in the Doctor of Worship Studies program at the Robert E. Webber Institute for Worship Studies. This is a five year program focused on expanding my understanding of worship and its critical place in Church ministry. To add to the learning, this past September, I took on the role of registrar at the college. The move meant that I relinquish my duties as Communications Director in order to oversee the entire recruitment and retention departments of the college. I continue to teach in the worship arts and media fields at the college.

Moving to Steinbach provided some expected challenges to our family, however God is faithful and as we look back over the past four years we are grateful for the ease at which we have begun the adjustment to living in a new community. When we moved to Steinbach we kept our EMMC roots from our time in Aylmer, Ontario and as a result have been attending the Gospel Fellowship Church, where I'm currently serving as the Church Board Chair and Trudy serves as a youth worker.
